When Wallaby opened in Silverlake last September we thought, Why does the eastside get all the cool play spaces? Beyond the usual offerings for kids, Wallaby has set itself apart by attempting to entertain the grownups, too. Through the “Parent Hobby Program” (which hovers around $30 a class), moms can take group guitar lessons, voice lessons, or gab over a little “knit one, pearl two” while the kiddies work on an art project, listen to stories, or get messy in the sand and water stations in the outside play area. The latest? Adult Spanish lessons, as requested by local moms who don’t want to feel left behind by their bilingual tots (starting May 6; $210 for seven classes).
